EcoBloom - Branding & Sustainable packaging
Eco-friendly candles with sustainable seed paper packaging.
Inspiration
The inspiration for this brand came from nature, the flowers, and the plants EcoBloom offers. Dutch still life paintings, Vincent Van Gogh's work, and pressed flower art.
Logo Design
The EcoBloom logo merges elements of light and growth, symbolizing the brand’s eco-friendly candles and the transformative aspect of the seed paper packaging. I created a lotus design that has a flame coming out of the center of the flower to make an elegant yet simple logo, emphasizing the harmony between nature and light.
Sustainable Packaging Design
Material & Concept
• Seed Paper: The label material is biodegradable seed paper that customers can plant to grow herbs and flowers after using the candle.
• Recycled Materials: All additional packaging materials, such as the box the candles are packed in, will be made from recycled or recyclable materials including environmentally friendly soy-based ink.
• Planting instructions: Planting instructions are on the back of the seed paper label with simple icons and illustrations, benefits of the candle, and a note on the company’s commitment to sustainability.
Color Palette
By carefully selecting colors that reflect the characteristics and emotional nuances of lavender, rosemary, and poppy, I created a visually appealing and cohesive product line that resonates with EcoBloom's customers and enhances their overall brand experience.
• Tropical Indigo (C=50 M=53 Y=0 K=0): Represents the lavender candle + seeds. A soft lavender color immediately evokes the calming, soothing qualities associated with lavender. It’s light and airy, perfect for conveying relaxation and tranquility.
• Auburn (C=20 M=93 Y=100 K=11): Represents the poppy candle + seeds. A vibrant red (while remaining within gamut for a print-friendly color) is perfect for capturing the bold, energetic essence of poppies. This color is striking and dynamic, immediately drawing attention and evoking feelings of passion and vitality.
• Cal Poly Green (C=84 M=41 Y=100 K=43): Represents the rosemary candle + seeds. An earthy green captures the essence of rosemary, reflecting its robust, herbaceous character. This color feels natural and grounding, perfect for evoking the fresh, invigorating scent of rosemary.

Typography - Logo & Packaging
• Primary Font: I chose Kudryashev Display because it embodies a bold, modern aesthetic with a touch of retro flair.
• Secondary Font: I chose Acumin Pro to pair with Kudryashev Display for its sophisticated typeface, that meets the need of contemporary design while maintaining a timeless elegance.
Plant Illustrations for EcoBloom Candle Labels
I created elegant and detailed line illustrations of lavender, rosemary, and poppy plants for EcoBloom's candle labels. Drawing inspiration from Dutch still life paintings, these illustrations blend the meticulous detail and natural beauty characteristic of this artistic tradition. The result is labels that evoke a sense of timeless elegance and connection to nature, perfectly aligning with EcoBloom’s commitment to sustainability and beauty.
Summary
Overall, the design for EcoBloom captures the essence of natural beauty and sustainability, creating a vibrant and memorable brand identity that resonates with consumers who value eco-friendly products and practices.
